PHOTOS: Sterne Agee First Look Party

The Sterne Agee First Look Party launched Birmingham Botanical Gardens sixth annual Antiques at The Gardens on Thursday, October 6. Hundreds of garden and antiques enthusiasts gathered for the black-tie affair catered by Kathy G.’s Asian-inspired menu featuring a stir-fry chef, a sushi menu and more. Board President, Henry B. Ray, Jr., toasted the event’s honorary chair, Frances Dean Blount, for her remarkable contributions to The Gardens. Attendees had an opportunity to purchase from dozens of antiques dealers which have taken over The Gardens until Sunday.

Arrington Plant Adventure Zone Breaks Ground

Arrington Plant Adventure Zone Groundbreaking

On September 9, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the Arrington Plant Adventure Zone, the new home for its Horticultural Therapy program. Former Mayors Richard Arrington, Jr. and Bernard Kincaid joined other Birmingham dignitaries before an invited crowd of more than 60 people. Refreshments were served to those in attendace at a reception following the ceremony. With expected completion in the Spring of 2012, the Arrington Plant Adventure Zone will serve as the new home for Alabama’s first Horticultural Therapy program.
