Lin Wellford’s Painted Garden Art Anyone Can Do

Ok, so it is not actually a ‘new’ book (2007) but it is oh so cute!  Lin Wellford has been writing books for years about painting rocks, but this one is by far the most fun for your garden.   She takes the regular rocks, blocks, borders and stones that you can find at any home garden center and turns them into fish, alligators, iguanas, caterpillars,  elephants, flowers, turtles and many other things as well.  My favorite is the fish pond, all the beauty and none of the maintenance.  One of the best features of this book is how easy it is to follow her directions and do it yourself.  She gives step-by-step instructions and even has stencils in the back of the book.  So if you want to jazz up your yard or garden come by the The Library at Birmingham Botanical Gardens and check it out.

The Library at The Gardens is open Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Click here to learn more about how you can participate in the Thyme to Read book club, exploring the larget horticulture library in the nation or email Hope Long at or call 205-414-3931.
